Update on Daffodils, Bulbs, Planting and Dates for 2015

Get planting your daffodil bulbs now!

Only buy firm bulbs, and remember the general rule for planting not too deep – usually about 2 to 2 and a half times the depth of the bulb.

Fertilise if you like with blood fish and bone (high potash content).

We have recently planted lots of bulbs (4-5 thousand) down in pingot and into the woods, so there should be lots to see in the spring!

This summer was very good for daffodils with a lot of rain early on then a really dry June and July, which the bulbs love.

We’ll update soon with the dates for the daffodil walks as soon as possible, but ought to be approximately the last week in March and the first week in April.

    Hi Jean,
The lane is reasonably accessible, but it is quite long so a good (and pretty) walk down the length of Foxwist Green Lane to the farm at the end. A 29 seater coach looks to be similar to a full size horse-wagon, and so we’re sure they will get to the end, even if it is a bit bumpy in places!
Observant nature watchers will see a lot of species of birds and plants around the farm, as we have woods, marshes, hedgerows all round which have not been removed for the modern intensive farming style of big fields. This encourages a huge number of birds of all types to live around the farm, and the patient (and importantly, quiet!) will see plenty in their natural habitat!
You’re probably right about the more sniffy members, best leave them somewhere else, they wouldn’t enjoy the fields of gorgeous daffodils and wildlife at all 😉
